Hello to all of my fellow country music lovers,

Believe it or not, The Country Oldies Show will celebrate its 20th anniversary the week of July 21st!

The show began originally in 1994 at WYNY, New York. For the past 20 years, I have endeavored to keep the superstars of country music (50s-60’s-70’s-80’s) from vanishing from the airwaves in a sea of “Hot, Young, or New” country formats. Twenty years later, it appears we’ve succeeded. I certainly couldn’t have done it without the help of our affiliate stations, many of which have been with us since the beginning.

From my days as Country DJ in New York (WHN, WYNY, WKHK) and PD at KKYX, San Antonio, WTR Albany and as Country Program Manager at Sirius, I’ve been especially fortunate to make and keep great relationships over the years with the likes of Larry Gatlin, Bill Anderson, Steve Wariner, the Oak Ridge Boys, Crystal Gayle, Jett Williams, not to mention the dozens of performers who joined us every year at the KKYX Great Country River Festival in San Antonio like Johnny Rodriguez, Moe Bandy, Darrell McCall, Kathy Mattea, Becky Hobbs, John Conlee, John Anderson, Razzy Bailey, and many, many more.

We’ll celebrate all of that with a very special edition of The Country Oldies Show which will air the week of July 21st, so we can mark the milestone together. I’d love for you to be a part of that special show — send me your favorite Country Oldies Show memories and anything else you might want to share.
